Pearl Avery MSc ACP Inflammatory Bowel Disease Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Nursing Team 

Pearl Avery is an experienced Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Gastro Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) with 19 years of experience in Gastroenterology. She has received several awards for her contributions to the field, including the British Journal of Nursing Gastro IBD Nurse of the Year 2018. Pearl is interested in research and digital health and has successfully applied to the Health Education England/National Institute for Health Care Research (HEE/NIHR) bridging award and NHS Clinical Entrepreneur programme. In addition to her role as an IBD Advanced Nurse Practitioner at St Mark’s The National Bowel Hospital, she also works as an ANP with a special gastrointestinal interest at a primary care practice.

Pearl is currently pursuing a PhD and holds the position of Nurse Representative for the British Society of Gastroenterology IBD Section Clinical Research Group. She is also a member of the Royal College of Nursing Gastrointestinal Nursing Forum Steering Committee.

Pearl is actively working on raising awareness of non-traditional pathways to advanced level practice and is grateful to have received support from the Crohn’s & Colitis UK Nurse Specialist Programme to become one of the first accredited Royal College of Nursing ANPs in IBD in the UK.
